Eve-Marie Janelo

Chinese medicine found me when I 25 years ago ended up at a lecture I had planned not to visit. I then worked as a massage therapist and was invited to a meeting in my association where there also would be a lecture about acupuncture.

When I received the invitation to the lecture, I immediately decided not to go because I was afraid of needles. The same day as the lecture would be, there was something strong that drew in me. Despite my fear of needles, I decided to go and listen.

To my surprise, the lecture was very little about needles. Instead, it offered me a fascinating new world that offered tools to find a balance between body, psyche and soul.

This lecture caught me in depth and led me to an education in Chinese medicine that I completed in 2002. I then transformed my existing business as a massagetherapist to fully working with TCM and acupuncture. My specialty today is to treat emotional trauma.

I have also been studying Face Reading with Lillian Pearl Bridges since 2006 and in 2013 I deepened my knowledge of the subject at her Master Face Reading Program at the Lotus Institute, USA. I am now also an assistant teacher in Lillian's international certification program.

In addition to working at my clinic in Sweden, my great passion is to invite the ordinary person into the beautiy of Chinese medicine. I do this by offering inspirational lectures about self-care based on TCM for companies, organizations and the general public.

I have so far written two self-care books published in Swedish with the aim of spreading knowledge about TCM to the general public.

Joan Duveen

Joan Duveen, originally trained as physiotherapist worked in his own private clinic as part of a general health center till 1990. In these years he was a dedicated teacher in anatomy, physiology and massage at a college for physiotherapy in Leiden in the Netherlands.

Being interested in physical work as well as in philosophy he heard about Dr. van Buren teaching acupuncture based on Chinese philosophy. Since there was a long waiting list for this college he started his study in Chinese medicine, massage and later acupuncture in 1975 with other teachers. Together with Jan van Baarle he wrote a study book (in Dutch): Chinese massage for physiotherapists.

Graduated from the Dutch Society for Acupuncture, Holland in 1982, he finally was able to study with Dr. van Buren in the Netherlands and became B.Ac in 1986 at ICOM Holland.

At the end of this study he had the rare honor to be invited by Dr. van Buren to study with him in the UK for a M.Ac., which he finalized in 1991 at ICOM England.

He became a regular staff member at the International College of Oriental Medicine UK for 16 years, teaching Chinese Medicine in year 3 and 4. During these years, and also later till Dr. van Buren died, Joan was able to visit him often, to observe his treatments and to learn as much as possible and to exchange ideas.

Joan sees it as his task to keep the legacy of the work of Dr. van Buren alive, which is the practical use of Chinese philosophy in the acupuncture clinic. The core of the work of Dr. van Buren is found in the philosophy of the heavenly stems and earthly branches, a subject which was theoretical for many years, even in China. Dr. van Buren’s work was to focus on the practical use of the philosophical ideas of the Chinese calendar in the acupuncture clinic.

Since 1987 Joan is an international teacher in this subject which brought him, besides the Netherlands to schools and congresses in England, Germany, Israel, Norway, Poland and Australia. Being a husband, father and grandfather he choose to refuse several requests from schools in other countries.

He is co-founder of the Study center Pakua (1988). He resigned as chairman after 13 years being convinced that the objectives continue to be propagated. This study center still organizes post graduate courses in Philosophical Chinese medicine.

In 1992 he had the chance to travel to China with a group of colleagues and Dr. van Buren and his wife Pauline to visit Colleges of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing, Chengdu, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

His specialties in the field of acupuncture are pediatrics ( he studied with Julien Scott), pulse diagnosis (studied with Dr. van Buren and Dr. L. Hammer and others), acupuncture according to the five elements and the philosophy of stems and branches, taking into account the constitutional energies by birth, based on the Chinese calendar.

About these subjects he wrote several articles in magazines for Chinese medicine.

Joan reads a lot and still studies Chinese philosophy and Chinese Medicine especially the I Tjing and the practical use of it in clinic. From his childhood on he is used to learn through spiritual work and to stay healthy by fitness, running, qi gong, yoga, meditation, long walks and listening music.

He is blessed with an active family life with his wife Marjolein, 4 children and 4 grandchildren.

Marian Nielsen Joos

Chinese Medicine came into my life as my mother way dying from cancer in 1999, in the last month of her life I asked a newly started acupuncturist Kathaline Lauge, if she would come and treat my dear mother.

Acupuncture served my mother as she went over to the other side, into the light, and her soul was set free from a body deeply suffering. This ancient healing tradition supported her to take the last transformation she needed in this life.

A very strong bounding had happened, I had lost my mother on the one hand but on the other I had gained what up to this day is my work, my hobby and my deeply felt passion.

Chinese Medicine sent me out on a lifelong journey to both support many other people on their journey with focus on transformation and healing. Since 2003 I have had my own clinic of Traditional Chinese Medicine up in the Swiss mountains, in a little city called Ilanz, which is the first city next to the river Rhein!

Along side supporting other people on their journey from pain to healing. This has also been very much my own journey of transformation. Be cause when you step onto this path, you step onto a path, which awakens your consciousness.

Self-cultivation happens as you are taught in school about the holistic life approach and your horizon is expanded. This was the beginning of that which I always had been looking for – HEALING!

In 2005 I participated in the big international Traditional Chinese Medicine Congress in Rothenburg, Germany. Second time in the field of Chinese Medicine I fell in love! This community, this family, this connection all in the name of this healing tradition and I wanted to bring it all to Denmark.

So I did, in 2007 the first Scandinavian TCM Congress saw the light of the day and 3 more congresses successfully followed. There were 4 congresses born at the same time that I had given birth to my 3 gourgeous children: Sean, Zoey and Malou. Plus I started to teach both at my own congress in Denmark and at the Rothenburg TCM Congress in Germany, along side with my The Heart Way workshops at my Swiss clinic.

The Heart Way workshops at my Swiss clinic will very soon be offered online also. My dear colleague Eva-Marie Janelo and I are also right now working on an online course with focus on Face Reading for personal development which will be up and running early summer.
